I’ve installed FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE amd64 on Ginger with the help of Rob. We did a minimal install, then added Blackbox. After bringing her back home, I run sysinstall and go to install some more packages, only to remember that I just have the first cd. Being the smart person I am, I decided to go to freebsd.org and look for a dvd version, which I did not find. Nothing useful came up when I googled it, so I went to a torrent website, where I found a dvd someone had made. ‘Cool,’ I thought, ‘this will solve my problems as I have no cd’s to burn the official discs to.’

Only after I downloaded the file did I realise that it was the i386 version. D’oh!

After a couple of hours of searching, I did not come across any i686/amd64 dvd’s, so I decided to build one myself. I went back to freebsd.org and grabbed the torrent link for the amd64 cd set, downloading everything except disc 1 (since I had that in cdrom form already). Getting myself a copy of UltraISO, I combined disc 1, 2, 3, and docs into one dvd iso. Problem fixed!

If anyone is wanting a copy, I will set up a torrent.
