Scrib is a Python IRC bot that has been in development for a few years. In April of 2010, the codebase was totally rewritten with the intention of integrating natural language processing (chatbot) with useful tools (infobot).
The source code is available on GitHub. Feel free to fork, contributions are always welcome!
Scrib 0.6.3:
- Learns from conversations inside IRC chat rooms and can optionally be set to reply (including a reply rate setting).
- Accesses the fortune command (if installed) via !fortune and formats it for a reply in channel. Currently only the owner can use this.
- Has the ability to randomly tweet: see @Scribbington
Future Features:
- Create a tiered user system (admin, manager, power user, user)
- Integration with Whube
Scrib 2.0
We’re jumping straight into the two point oh. Scrib needs a rewrite from the ground up. So, what makes a Scrib?
Functioning as Brain Nodule (FABNodule)
Language and Context Variable Processor (LCVProc)
Object Interface Systems (OIS)
Dynamic Node Assimilator (DNA)
Softblock Node (plugins)
